IF YOU HAVE NOT SPENT TIME WITH THE DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS OF U.S. NAVAL COMMUNICATIONS IN THE LATE 50'S, 60'S AND EARLY 70'S, SOME OF THE MATERIAL FOUND ON THE WEB PAGES MAY BE SOMEWHAT CRYPTIC.

IE 5.5 & 6.0 SEEM TO DO THE BEST JOB OF DISPLAYING THE PAGES FOLLOWED BY NETSCAPE 4.7X. IE DOES A NICE JOB WITH SIMULTANEOUS AUDIO FILES. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET NETSCAPE TO PLAY MORE THAN ONE AUDIO FILE AT A TIME.

THE WEB PAGES WERE GENERATED OR LAST EDITED WITH MS FRONTPAGE. SOME PAGE TRANSITIONS AND WATERMARKS ARE ENABLED. 640 X 480 SCREEN RESOLUTION WAS USED TO HELP ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR A HORIZONTAL SCROLL BAR.

THE DEFAULT INTERNET DOWNLOADS OF NETSCAPE 6, OPERA 5, OPERA 6, MOZILLA 0.9.7 AND K-MELEON 0.6 BUILD 547 ALL HAVE VARYING PROBLEMS WITH THE AUDIO FILES AND/OR JAVA APPLICATIONS. THE AUDIO PROBLEMS SEEM TO CENTER AROUND THE LACK OF A DEFAULT  PLUGIN FOR EMBEDDED WAV AND MID FILES IN THE NETSCAPE 6 DOWNLOAD. THE OTHER DOWNLOADS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OPERA 5, APPEAR TO LOOK TO NS6 FOR THEIR PLUGIN CONFIGURATION AND AS A RESULT FUNCTION IN MUCH THE SAME MANNER AS NS6. OPERA 5 DOES THE BEST OF THE BUNCH WITH SOME MINOR PROBLEMS INTERPRETING JAVA APPLICATIONS. I BELIEVE OPERA 5 LOOKS TO NS 4.7X FOR PLUGIN GUIDANCE.

PLEASE
COMMENT ON YOUR EXPERIENCES, GOOD, BAD OR OTHERWISE, IN VIEWING THE PAGES.

THANKS,
ROB
